  The club holds its shooting events at the Hawaii County Trap & Skeet Range located in Hilo, Hawaii.  This is a public facility under the administration of the Hawaii County Parks & Recreation Department.  Normal hours of operation for the range are: Wednesdays 12-4PM, Saturdays & Sundays 9AM-4:30PM.  When a gun club schedules an event at the range the County adjusts days and hours of operation to accommodate the shooting event.  BITC holds registered shoots on the second Sunday of every month.

Since this is Hawaii and the temperature averages 80 degrees, shooters are accommodated with picnic benches under open air pavilions.  Restrooms are available and are handicap accessible.  The range is used by other gun clubs, skeet and bird hunters, and one of the four traps is configured to support skeet shooting.

Gun clubs sponsoring events take responsibility for selling ammunition to shooters who need it.  Shooters can ensure their brand is available by ordering in advance or purchasing whatever is on hand at registration.  Unless one of the clubs is throwing a barbecue, food is not available at the range.  However, the range is located within 10 minutes driving of several restaurants.

HAWAII PITA STATE SHOOT

ALOHA FROM HAWAII PITA AND BIG ISLAND TRAP CLUB,

   The PITA Hawaii State Shoot will be held February 17 through 20, 2012 at the Hilo Trap and Skeet Range.  The range will be open for practice and registration Friday the 17th at 8:00 a.m.  Shells for the shoot will be available at this time. 

    The Hawaii State Shoot will be limited to the first 75 competitors to pay their registration fees.  Registration forms and fees should be mailed to Andy Hallingstad.

    Grant Lau has graciously, volunteered to spearhead a Mini HAA tournament on Friday.  This is a 150 bird event he calls the “Aloha Kim Chee Special” it will consist of 50 sgl, 50 hdcp and 25 pr dbl.  It was a great success last year and a lot of fun for $35.00.

    Shells will be for sale at the range:  Diana shot shells 23/4 dram 8 or 3 dram 7 ½.  Shells will be $80.00 at the range and discounted 10 % for advanced payment= $72.00    Please no exchanges or refunds.

   A total of 750 registered targets which can be cross registered with ATA, plus the 150 non-registered Aloha Kim Chee Special on Friday.

An official program will be mailed to each shooter registered for the 2012 HPITA.  Shoot program will be mailed in September 2011.

   This year’s awards banquet will be Hawaiian casual dress and held the evening of Sunday February 19th at a time and location to be announced.   We will also be having our very popular Friday Potluck dinner at the small pavilion at the Wailoa Park.

    Hilo Hawaiian has given us a special group rate of $90.00 plus tax per night.  Be sure to mention the PITA State shoot, when you phone or e-mail the hotel.
