I use
Pillsbury rolled pie crusts, available in your grocery
pastry shelve because it is faster and easier than "do it
yourself" crust.
1.
peel and slice 7 apples, 4 granny smiths and 3 either fuji, jongold,
or braeburn. I also use an automatic peeler/corer to get a
uniform size apple piece.
2.
mix 1 cup sugar with 2 teaspoons all purpose flour, 1
teaspoon cinnamon, dash of nutmeg, dash of salt and 2
tablespoons butter, melted.
3.
mix above ingredients with cut apples and let set 30
minutes.
4.
optional, 1/4 cup raisins if desired.
5.
unroll bottom crust and line a 9 inch Pyrex pie dish.
6.
fill pie dish with apple mixture and pat down smooth.
7.
unroll top crust and cut into 1/2 inch strips. lay
strips alternately across pie with interweaving design.
8.
trim excess crust around pie dish and pinch edges together
to form edge around dish.
9.
dot the top with soft butter to add a crispy crust and
sprinkle liberally with natural raw sugar.
10.
bake 55 minuets in a 400 degree oven.
11.
enjoy with vanilla ice cream or topping of your choice.
12.
save me a piece!
